Population plot

@PopePompus: I see you added back the population plot. Why? The image is redundant; it shows exactly the same thing at the population template. Magnolia677 (talk) 17:07, 1 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

I put it back in because it shows the data, whereas the table only lists the values. It is often useful to plot tabulated data so that trends are easier to spot. PopePompus (talk) 17:13, 1 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
@PopePompus: If the image "shows" exactly the same data as the template (less actually), that would make it a decorative image, per MOS:IMAGEREL. --Magnolia677 (talk) 17:32, 1 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Clearly, you and I have been having a slow-motion edit war about this topic for many months. I'm not going to just defer to your opinion on this, because other editors have also added plots like these to articles. I am not alone in seeing their value. Perhaps we should move this discussion to a section of Wikipedia where more people are apt to express an opinion. It's unlikely that anyone will chime in on a discussion held on a small town's article talk page. Clearly I'm not going to convince you, and you're not going to convince me. But if there's a consensus opinion involving several editors besides us, I will certainly abide by the consensus. PopePompus (talk) 17:53, 1 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
I wasn't aware you were adding them back. Why don't I post this discussion on a few boards, and see if others can offer and opinion. Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 18:12, 1 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I sure you know of better places to post it than I do. PopePompus (talk) 18:14, 1 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
If you would, please let me know where the discussion is taking place. I'd like to plead my case... PopePompus (talk) 19:19, 1 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
